Knight takes leadership of View TV as company expands originals, acquisitions and premium content across linear and on-demand, backed by an independent consortium TV content fund
LOS ANGELES — September 9th 2026 — View TV has named Simon Knight CEO of View TV, giving him leadership of the company as it expands across content, production, commissioning and distribution. Alongside the appointment, View TV has secured $42 million in strategic backing from an independent consortium TV content fund to accelerate platform scale, content investment and original production.
View TV is building a free, ad-supported television business with owned infrastructure at its centre: a portfolio of linear channels, Kapang — its owned and operated on-demand platform — and an expanding production and commissioning operation. That combination of owned distribution, direct audiences and premium advertising places View TV in the free TV market alongside services such as Tubi and The Roku Channel, while giving the company the senior leadership and operating capacity to commission, acquire and produce at scale.
The fund backing will support continued expansion of View TV’s technology platform and content ecosystem, and enable increased investment in premium content, original productions and new opportunities across the company’s growing media real estate — spanning its technology, media infrastructure and studio enterprises.
Knight moves into the CEO role from CEO of View TV Studios. He joined View TV after the company acquired Knight Vision Studios, the production company he founded, and previously spent nearly nine years as Global CEO of Maverick TV (All3Media). In the U.K., his credits include series such as I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Love Island, How to Look Good Naked, 10 Years Younger in 10 Days, Escape, Embarrassing Bodies, Inside the Ritz Hotel and The Elephant Hospital. In the U.S., he launched Chrisley Knows Best for USA Network and Barbecue Showdown for Netflix. Earlier in his career he was Creative Director at Ricochet (Warner Bros. TV U.K.), working on factual hits including Food Unwrapped and The Hairy Bikers, and an executive producer at BBC Bristol on series including DIY SOS: The Big Build, Nigel Slater’s Simple Suppers and Wanted Down Under.
Knight will now lead content across View TV’s linear channels and Kapang, covering originals, acquisitions and a growing library of premium scripted and unscripted programming.
View TV Founder and Chairman Jamie Branson will focus on brand integration and global expansion.
Branson said:
“Simon combines strong leadership with a rare hands-on understanding of television, from creative and production through to the commercial side of the business. He is the right person to lead View TV into its next phase, while I focus on brand integration and global expansion.”
Alongside the appointment, View TV announced that it will commission original programming across its entire channel portfolio. The company is recruiting a Head of Content to lead creative decisions on what View TV commissions and acquires for its channels and platforms. Day-to-day original production for View TV Studios continues under the studio’s growing Los Angeles operation.
Knight said:
“The opportunity for View TV is to change the economics of television and create a model where great content can reach large audiences and be properly monetised.
“Our linear channels, Kapang and our $100 RPM model give us the platform to do that. This backing gives us the capital to scale that model — in technology, content and original production — and to create greater opportunities for content owners, producers, studios and audiences.
“I want View TV to be a company that commissions, invests in producers and creators, moves quickly and creates new commercial opportunities for content that deserves to be seen.”
The partnership marks a significant step in View TV’s strategy to bring together technology, content, distribution and production within a scalable entertainment ecosystem.
Knight takes up the CEO role with immediate effect.
